Modern House Interior India

Normal is boring! Make the ceiling shine and paint it differently, something very different from boring white and admire you choice from the comfort of your bed.

Interior Design is a wide and vivid term, it ranges from the selection of furniture design to colour palette and hold the power to change the feel of the space, throughout the year we have seen many fabulous and well- crafted interior design projects that give an example of the creativity of designs and requirements and understanding of the space, taking end users into consideration.

Below is the list of top ten most well designed residential houses from around India.

A modern take on our traditional past; this is fabulous. Contemporary round bed, a futuristic chair and stained glass from the past, the result is captivating.

A beautiful lighting can make a lot of difference in the decor. Choose it according to the setting and the space you want to highlight and enjoy the evenings admiring your beautiful home.

The first thing to do is to get a fix on how many people will live in the house. Are you going to build it for your family? If so, do you need large spaces like terraces, gardens or a front yard that can be used for socializing or for your children to play? Alternatively, do you want a small modern apartment or a cosy prefabricated house that is perfect for two people? These become even more relevant depending on where you plan to build your house. For example, a small two-bedroom apartment in the city centre in a metropolis such as Mumbai may cost around 1.50 crore rupees. In a tier-2 city such as Jaipur, you can build a spacious three-bedroom house, including the cost of land, for the same amount. The façade is another element to consider. Modern houses use concrete, exposed bricks and glass to create a light and minimalist effect. In a city such as New Delhi, which has an extreme climate, or a house in a hilly region, the use of a large amount of glass would greatly reduce the insulation of the house, resulting in additional expenses for heating or cooling the interiors. When you are designing the interiors, you want to use every inch of space efficiently. Modern designs are characterized by an intelligent use of spaces by means of ample storage as well as rooms with dual functionality. The design should be customized to your requirements. For instance, you can include a mezzanine for better use of space and light. If you love art, the interiors should have spaces that are adequately illuminated and structured to exhibit paintings or sculptures. By working together with an architect and explaining your requirements, you can create a beautiful and functional house that is a true representation of the modern design style.

AV Fourth Dimension sees design as a constantly-evolving process that should pay keen attention to the need of the end-user. This project was bagged through positive word of mouth. It was a self-developed, family-owned property, spanning two levels.AV Fourth Dimension was associated with the project from the time the slabs were being cast. The project had a clear brief: to design a luxurious, contemporary space which would have unique elements, a ‘Mahal’ in the sky with use of rich materials and having a touch of the rich Indian culture contemporized to suit modern living.

In living room we have custom designed sofa as well coffee table, which blends easily in entire apartment. Copper bird art on the wall adds life in living area. Motif on TV panel, foyer area adds drama.

We Indians love colors! The colorful abstract painting on colored wall reminds us of the festival of color. Show your love in the most intimate room of your home and enjoy it with your loved ones.

The advantage of the eclectic style is that it can portray the tastes of the older and the younger members of the family. The choice of colours, patterns and even furniture styles can clash in this style without seeming out of place. Classic accessories can be placed beside modern or chic paintings even within the same room.

At homify, we make the process simple. Just browse through the beautiful photographs on our website and save them to an ideabook. Once you are ready to start designing or renovating your home, sharing the pictures in the ideabook makes it easier for the professional to understand the design style that you prefer.

Amit Shastri Architects & Interior Designer(ASA) is known for their detail-driven work with the crisp programming of lines and spaces. The client’s brother, who’d already been a client of the firm, was well acquainted with ASA’s work and had strongly recommended that his brother goes with ASA on this project. The 3-BHK apartment project had a precise brief: the owners lived abroad and this was to be their holiday home in India. They wanted a modern, contemporary space which would be easy to maintain, felt like a cosy home and yet had unique elements to make it stand apart.

This type of house is designed with the aim of reducing the ecological footprint. Passive houses make use of materials, space and light intelligently. They are built with materials or systems that enhance the energy efficiency by regulating the temperature inside the house. This makes it easy and cheap to maintain an even temperature indoors, either on a very hot summer day or during the coldest winter months.

Artistic marvel, elaborate motifs, fine jali partition and the splash of colour on a wall; this room has everything to immediately grab the attention.

These houses are constructed with sections or modules that are manufactured elsewhere and then assembled on site. Using this modular technique helps to save money and time. Prefabricated houses can be just as spacious as a conventionally built house, and they are beautiful and friendly to the environment.

luxurious Pent House Design By FADD Studio for an avid nature and photography lover with earthy and Zen elements. This home is unabashed about using earthy tones in some areas and soft pastels in others; about subtlety in one corner and opulence in another. The whole shell is an unobtrusive beige-grey colour in amour coat. Wood and cement are predominant materials. The highlight of this house is Japanese style raised tea area in bamboo prudently positioned under a double height origami-inspired chandelier that is set against large curtain-less windows. The tea table is a work of art and the chandelier emits just the right light on it. The living space houses a blue and rust cluster with a vibrant rug. Adjacent to this, a plush and stylish piano room has two conversation chairs against a vintage mirror. On the opposite wall, a sculpted marble bench, a sculptural black floor lamp and an ethnic artwork are seen against the wooden mosaic wall creating an overall feeling of eclectic-ness.

Material shifts and elevational modulation establishes the programmatic changes within the Skewed House. A nine-foot exposed concrete cantilever marks the master bedroom, a strategic communication about family hierarchy. Similarly, an L-shaped glass inset reveals the internal free standing Pooja tower, reiterating the significance of spirituality.

As far as kitchen is concerned, the most important necessity here is comfort and convenience. If the functional kitchen looks stylishly fashionable then it is a bonus.

In a modern style house, all the design elements should be in harmony with each other.  Simplicity is the key. Try to keep the design uncomplicated by avoiding too many separations such as long corridors or passages. The idea is to use the spaces efficiently so that each of them can be put to the maximum use. Modern architects like to look at their house designs as ‘machines’ that perform, and this is an invaluable concept to employ when you are building your house. When in doubt, ask yourself questions such as: does the shape of my house make sense? Does it have sufficient natural lighting and provide privacy in the places that need it? Don’t forget to think about the colours. Modern houses have larger concentrations of neutral colours such as cool whites, beige, light grey and cream, but it’s all right to have few splashes of bright or flashy colours, so long as they don’t dominate the design.

Wooden carvings on the stone wall, pebbles on the grass, green pots, romantic lighting and two comfortable chairs; romance is in the air.

Classic rooms are the picture of elegance. Usually, they are composed of light colours and textures with exquisite furnishings, exotic accessories or stunning paintings creating a highlight in the room. It’s not uncommon to find a classic room with picture lights that put the focus on the artworks on the wall or spotlights on accessories. While lighter shades are more characteristic of the classic style, one can use a bolder shade on a feature wall to break the monotony.

There is immense beauty hidden in simplicity. Play with curves and let the interior of the room get soaked in its magic. The wall unit, the sofa, and even light falling on the wall are curvy.

When decorating a home, you should choose a style with which you are comfortable as you will have to live with it for years. While choosing a theme to run across all the rooms of the house is essential to create a unified look, it’s not necessary that every room should be the same. By playing around with colours, textures and materials, it is possible to create a unique look for each room without deviating from the overall style.

Besides the fact that the colour should match with the overall look of the house or apartment, choosing the right tone can influence the mood and the feel of the room. In smaller rooms, using a lighter shade for the walls helps to create the effect of amplitude. Similarly, in a big room, a darker colour can make the walls appear closer, bringing cosiness to the area. The purpose for which the room is used will also play a significant role when choosing the right colour. In a bedroom, soothing tones are preferable as the room is meant for relaxation. On the other hand, in a living room or kitchen, a bright shade can bring a cheery ambiance to the area. The best part of working with a professional is that you can get advice on the colours that are best suited to a room. Alternatively, you can get ideas for decorating the rooms with the right colour by browsing through the images on our platform.

Besides the purpose of the room and its location, the budget is a determinant of the type of floor for a house. For bathrooms and kitchens, easy to clean and moisture-resistant ceramic tiles might be the best choice whereas, for living rooms and bedrooms, wood or natural stone can bring in a cosier or earthier feel. The local climate should be considered before choosing the flooring for the room. In coastal cities such as Mumbai or Chennai, wood might not be the best choice for the flooring as it will absorb moisture from rain splashing in from the balconies, causing it to rot over time. While natural stone brings a sophisticated look to a living room, it requires coating regularly to make it moisture-resistant. Otherwise, it can absorb spills and get stained easily. Ceramic is by far the most maintenance-free option for flooring in Indian homes. Nowadays, ceramic tiles come in a range of designs, including some that resemble wood. They are also economical as they start at around INR 25 per square feet and go up to INR 180 per square feet for designer printed tiles. A professional will advise you on the pros and cons of each type of flooring, after considering your budget and lifestyle, to make it easier to choose the right type.

Before you get started with building your house, it’s important to be aware of the options, so that you can pick one that suits your needs, preferences and budget.

When it comes to implementing the Scandinavian style, the idea is to make an impression without using too many elements. Besides neutral colours with a few splashes of brighter contrasting tones, a few carefully chosen pieces of furniture that are functional and stylish complete the look.

The architect enjoyed a carte blanche in designing and execution of the home. The programme was evolved after studying the lifestyles and habits of the couple and their two school-going girls in detail. The intent was to create a design mark while optimizing the function of the space. The first step to the design was to carefully consider the space, purposefully design and position the furniture and derive efficient solutions integrating each element to form a part of the larger design.

The design is a showcase of the bond between the traditional roots and the modern minimalistic lifestyle of the Clients.

Now this is something naturally elegant and vibrantly beautiful. Natural tone of stone wall merges with the colorful wall depicting nature. Take some clue and break the monotony of single element in a long wall.

The walkway to your home is an introduction to what’s inside. Make it look fresh, beautiful and welcoming.

Every room should look well put together with the ideal mix of elements. Additionally, the room should be synergistic with the overall design style of the house. Rather than placing all of one’s favourite furniture and accessories in the room, it’s essential to plan the layout of the space so that each object in the room serves the purpose or beauty or functionality. The purpose of the room will also determine the design. For example, a bedroom needs to have a bed, wardrobes and side tables. In a small bedroom, any leftover space after arranging the essential furniture can hold other elements, whether it’s a chest at the foot of the bed for pillows and throws or a dresser unit in the corner for cosmetics. Working with a professional can help to create a well-designed room where every detail looks like it has been carefully thought about.

The entry to the Penthouse, via its surreal main door, is an experience in itself. The visual and physical massiveness of the design adds to the grandeur of the place. Repetitive pyramidal massing and subsequent grooving, inspired by traditional temple doors, enhance the sanctity of the space. The doorway leads to an entrance foyer – a double heightened space which adorns an enchanting central Christian base chandelier hung from a recessed wooden false ceiling. A play of tiered wooden strips, with thin traditional carvings wrapped around the foyer, adorns the visual journey one experiences as they look at it through the glass windows of the staircase atrium. The entire design theme of the house – They are one of the few elements in the house that strike the perfect chord between the traditional and the modern.

Basic brief like functionality and should give touch of richness. The overall design is contemporary but we have used an element like floral motif, wooden column, traditional design furnishing, tree wall art etc.

The H-Cube House in Surat strikes a contemporary and modern note in a nondescript urban milieu. Bagged with the help of positive word of mouth, this assignment came almost immediately on the heels of a larger villa project that was more than 10 times the scale of the present project. And that was precisely what was attractive and challenging: its compact size. The site was a 35’ x 35’ corner property in a densely populated community of urban Surat. The square dimension meant the absence of a long axis that could have otherwise been used as a base for spatial articulation. The exercise thus became centred around as much creating a good space as proving to ourselves that we had the capability of surmounting the challenges posed by a small scale and its detailing.

The youthful energy of red is contagious and romantic. Show your personality and creativity on the wall, ceiling and the book shelf and leave everyone mesmerized.

Beauty does not always have to come at an exorbitant price, especially when talking about modern houses. With clever design that uses spaces efficiently, you can design a lovely home even on a small plot of land. Obviously, the smaller the land, the lower will be the cost of the house. Additionally, the overall cost will vary depending upon the type of materials used to construct the house. Using cheaper materials such as concrete doesn’t mean that the house cannot be luxurious. You will find several examples of modern houses on homify that prove this point.

The Bauhaus architectural style was born in Germany and is famous for its use of rectangular shapes such as windows, which are placed in harmony and symmetry within linear forms. The design is box-like, but very simple and elegant. The linear forms that we see today in the façades of modern houses are inspired by this design style. The interiors have abundant natural light and communal areas that create spacious environments.

Designing small rooms comes with a completely different challenge. All the essential furniture and accessories need to be accommodated within the limited space. Therefore, practicality often takes precedence over beauty. However, by consulting an expert interior designer or architect, it’s possible to make the room look good while it serves its primary function. Space saving design is the key to designing small rooms. Building customized furniture that brings a unique look to the room is a simple solution for making a small room efficient and unique. On homify, we have photographs and tips on space-saving design for small rooms to provide inspiration.

The word ‘modern’ means relating to the present, so when we talk about modern houses, we refer to those that are built according to the latest trends. The modern movement in architecture began in the early decades of the twentieth century. It was conceived as an opposition to the overused antiquated styles, which were characterized by elaborate ornamentation. Designers of the time looked for ways to make architecture simpler. This resulted in innovative forms of construction using new materials, such as concrete, metal and glass. Currently, there is an infinite variety of designs of modern houses. However, they are all based on the common principles of simplicity, functionality, elegance and the lack of ornamentation. The beauty of a modern house lies in its unpretentious design.

The best way to design a modern house is to connect with an architect. On homify, you can browse through photographs that present modern houses by the designers around the world as well as in your local area. In India, you can find professionals from the big cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore, as well as smaller cities. On our website, it is easy to find designs for each room in your home, whether it’s the living room, dining room, bedrooms, kitchen and bathrooms, or other areas such as gardens, balconies, swimming pools, sheds and garages. When you see an ideabook on a topic that interests you, make notes and collect all the designs that inspire you, so you can easily go back and refer to them. This way, it is easy to visualize how your home will look.

When building a modern style house in India, what are the points to consider?

The modern style is a popular choice in most urban areas, especially for apartments. However, it might not be for every homeowner, especially those with young children as the glass, sharp edges and light colours aren’t child-friendly. This style is popular for kitchens as the metal finishes are low maintenance and easy to clean. Additionally, the use of white and neutral shades can make a small kitchen appear bigger than it is.

From Designers: We recently completed the interiors for an apartment about 2600 sq.ft. located in posh area of Baroda. it is a four-bed apartment.

This swish new apartment (2,000 sq. ft. area) is situated in a posh locality at Vadodara, Gujarat. The London-based client wanted young, buoyant, cheerful and fresh looking interiors. “As you enter this plush apartment, the first visual clue to the kind of luxury that will follow is the clean, pure white aesthetics peppered with beige neutral tones and occasional bursts of colours on the furniture and walls,” states the team. In the foyer, a wooden hanging console unit is paired with a backdrop of half-veneer wall panelling, with some groove patterns and an off-centre hanging light adding more beauty. “To add some more drama, a custom-designed mirror in the form of a dry leaf has been placed here asymmetrically.”

From Architects: An interesting book, an engaging thought, a flight of fantasy or nothingness… A private sanctuary that is the garden at Skewed House. Solitude in the midst of golden-hearted Champa blossoms; unwinding to the tune of the wind chime.
