But the focal point of the room has to be the upcycled shutter headboard.

The original window and built-in cabinets were retained since they are a desirable and authentic feature of the home’s period. An antique table converted into a vanity with vessel sink adds a timeless touch.

You don’t need an actual working fireplace to create a warm and cozy feel. Joanna added a romantic, dream-like quality to this bedroom by mounting a fireplace frame to the wall. Some soft candles and neutral colours balance out the look.

To create a really rich contrast, opt for neutral wall colours and a textured ceiling to stare at from your bed below. We love the window detailing and French door additions to this room, which really round out the whole look.

Contemporary White Bathroom with Gray and White Subway Tile Backsplash

We spend a lot of time planning the common areas in our homes. The kitchen, living and dining rooms are often places we can’t wait to renovate, with the bathrooms, mudrooms and laundry rooms usually rounding out that list. But what about the room where we spend 6-10 hours a day in? We’re talking about the bedroom, of course. The bedroom is supposed to be our sanctuary, so why not give it a dream-like quality? Here are some of Joanna Gaines’s most dreamy bedrooms (and tips on achieving them for yourself), as seen on Fixer Upper to date. By Amber Dowling

This master bedroom’s color palette, white linen window treatments and subtle decor combine to create a tranquil and relaxed feel, as seen on Fixer Upper.

Renovations to this master bedroom included new, large windows for more natural light, a dramatic globe light fixture and an adjacent sitting area.

Or you could go all-out shiplap in order to create a dreamy, beach-inspired space. Add in a high four-poster arch to the bed and neutral wood finishes throughout, and we could picture staring at the ocean from this sleeping spot.

The bathroom has been reconfigured and outfitted with marble floors and countertops, twin vanities and one very tall medicine cabinet.

The renovated master bath features a newly vaulted ceiling, a rock back wall, square subway tile, new wainscoting and reclaimed wood beam.

When it comes to the headboard, don’t be afraid to think outside the box. This metal addition, for example, is a real statement piece that adds tons of character to the room. To bring it all together, go for neutral white covers and pillows, then add a small throw pillow or blanket in a colour to match the headboard.

As part of the renovation, an oversized master bath got divided into two: a new guest bath and this newly remodeled master.

As seen on HGTV’s Fixer Upper, in the master bedroom of this 1950s ranch house new large windows were added to brighten the space. The room also got fresh paint, crown molding and a stylized chandelier.

To create an elegant new space in the master bathroom, Joanna Gaines, of HGTV’s hit show, Fixer Upper, added a dark stone backsplash, a custom vanity, new hardware and a custom shower. This gives the homeowners a relaxing, sophisticated place to take a load off at the end of the day.

A dreamy bedroom doesn’t necessarily have to mean a feminine bedroom. Pair strong wood finishes with neutral colours to create a clean, masculine feel. Add greenery and a couple of hardcover books to finish off the look.

We all know Joanna loves her shiplap, but sometimes you want a softer bedroom wall. That doesn’t mean you can’t add a shiplap headboard to create that chic, country look. We love that almost as much as we love the unique, hanging vases on the wall.

Who ever said you couldn’t push the bed up against a window? Thanks to the headboard’s open design natural light still spills through. Meanwhile, pops of navy compliment the shades of white and cream, making you feel as though you’ve just entered a well-decorated cloud.

The best way to brighten a space is with lots of natural light. But a fireplace is another great option — especially in the bedroom — as it adds a romantic quality.

Sharing a room isn’t always fun, but it can still be dreamy with the right accents. Like this beautiful chandelier, for example, or these brilliant floating shelves that keep the space open and flowing.
