The contemporary perspective of our society has developed a need to create spaces suitable for living, work and social gatherings, and it has become a problem we need to face constantly. The intention of this course is to provide students with the adequate tools and criteria to face the challenge that “styling” spaces entails.

This postgraduate course is developed within several research fields: creative process, tools for discipline development, knowledge and command of materials and trends. Driven by the need to combine these subjects transversely, the course is based on the development of several exercises, so the knowledge acquired in theoretical sessions is put into practice, and divided in subjects imparted by some of the best professionals in interior design in a combination of theoretical lessons and practical exercises. The course is geared towards the exploration of a discipline that, behind an appearance of familiarity and daily nature, requires great knowledge and a meticulous technical command. Latest trends, the relations between colours and the combination of textures and materials are essential to create a pleasant and harmonious space in tune with the needs of today’s individuals in regards of their homes.

From the basis of the three fields of research (Space, Form, Material), a series of projects will combine exercises on domestic and residential spaces with design for commercial spaces. Also there will be a workshop on ephemeral spaces, under the heading of “Projects Workshop”, which intends to foster and promote the most extensive and free creative possibilities. These practical exercises are complemented with lectures divided in two areas. The first one, named Fundamentals and Strategies, is composed of several sessions that present the several disciplines taking part in the professional development of an interior designer (systems, lighting, marketing, graphic design, sustainability, accessibility, furniture, materials, …). The second part, Representation Tools, is based on analysing the necessary tools to develop and represent an interior space (digital representation, visual analysis, models, photography, etc.).

The CSP (Continuing Study Program) in Contemporary Interior Design is an approach to the main theoretical and practical research tools in the field of interior design. The course is based on three fields of research (Space, Form and Materials). The first one is focused on researching on several ways of interpreting and producing a contemporary interior space. The second remarks the possibilities offered by autonomous objects from their own logic, but also from the attributes they bring to modify an interior space. The third field is centered on analysing the range of possibilities blooming from a more direct and perceptible precision, from usage of different material surfaces to finish off previously generated spaces and objects.

The Continuing Study Program (CSP) in Interior Decoration and Styling intends to be an approach to the main tools for research and reflection – both at theoretical and practical levels – on the field of decoration and styling of interior spaces, an objective to be reached through considering the several and profound types of relations between individuals, society and interior spaces where they are developed the essential factor.

He is also the art director of the Fundación Institut Català de la Cuina i de la Cultura Gastronòmica.

The course is based on simulating a professional studio in the classroom where various projects based on semi-real and real briefings drawn up by companies are developed.
