3 Small Apartments That Make The Best Of The Space They Have

The visual simplicity of the cube makes it unobtrusive to the main living area, but at night it takes on a theatrical appearance. See more studios with glass walled bedrooms.

Of course, no tour is complete without a quick peek at the bathroom – just as luxurious as the rest of the home.

While there isn’t much artwork hanging in this home, that only means that pieces like this make an even bigger impression! This handsome vanity sits between the entryway and the bathroom. The candle holders are a nice touch too.

In the bedroom, a picture ledge sits above the bed to decorate a plain wall. A bedroom pendant light also hangs beside the bed as a cool alternative to a bedside tabletop lamp. The white pendant light shown here is the Aplomb.

The simple and stylish bedroom hides between sliding glass doors, easily concealed with neutral grey curtains for privacy.

Clear ghost chairs keep the room looking uncluttered and let through all of the natural daylight. The holders of the decorative candles on the table match the transparent theme.

And, because the home isn’t quite large enough to support a separate dining room, these kitchen bar stools offer a space-saving alternative, doubling up the kitchen island as a breakfast bar. You can find similar stools here.

To make the narrow hallway feel larger, the designer chose to use highly glossy materials to maximize the amount of natural light and to increase perceived spaciousness.

What a cozy entryway! Upholstered from top to bottom, this little niche looks like a relaxing place to empty pockets and untie shoes after a long day at the workplace. And the mirror makes it easy to check hair and outfit before leaving in the morning.

Our third and final small apartment design is a 50 square meter apartment in Odessa, Ukraine. Located in a hub for tourism and nightlife, the apartment was originally designed as a summer rental. The project brief called for an interior that would combine a modern progressive lifestyle with an easy traditional way of life.

We can see here how a contemporary floor lamp has been teamed with a classic sofa. The lamp here is an Arco Style Floor Lamp.

The attractive Scandinavian style chairs do not tuck out of sight beneath the dining table when not in use, even though space is at a premium.

A wall hung console allows the floor area to continue uninterrupted. The flooring is laid on the diagonal which visually increases the floor space.

The designers of this apartment took away all of the internal walls to create one open plan area.

The bright blue kitchen is finished off with a high contrast patterned tile backsplash. Matching the white and brown tones of the tiles, a set of three kitchen pendant lights hang above the fruit bowl on the central island.

Copper accents come in via a circular mirror and soap dispenser at the vanity unit.

This next space is a concept for a small apartment in Gdansk, Poland. Its natural interior takes advantage of multiple varieties of wood for a warm and welcoming aesthetic, but adds plenty of polished glass and matte black surfaces for contemporary style.

The visual simplicity of the cube makes it unobtrusive to the main living area, but at night it takes on a theatrical appearance.

Low beds like these pretty much remove the need for side tables, although the wrap-around storage space serves as a clean-looking stand-in here.

Check it out! The platform beneath the bed lights up to make it easier to navigate at night without the need to turn on any bright overhead lights.

Another benefit is the extra storage. Shelves on the edge would make it easy to display books or treasured collectibles, while the cabinets on the living room side keep clutter at a minimum.

While the bathroom looks very similar to the rest of the home, it does make more extensive use of plain white surfaces for a “clean feeling” appearance.

A casual sitting spot is anchored in place by a fun red lighting fixture.

From this angle it’s really easy to see the effect that the semi-open portion of the dividing wall has on this space. The two areas feel separate but neither room feels any smaller as a result of the wall thanks to the visual continuity.

The open shelf is a great place to hold extra hand towels, simple decorations, or spare soap and lotion dispensers.

A splash of colour across the TV wall visually warms the room.

With a low bed and simple wall cladding, this bedroom just begs for a minimalist decor treatment. The vases and plant trimmings are a nice touch that vibe with the natural feel of the space.

The modern dining chairs make a sculptural and artistic statement in the absence of other decorations. They also serve as extra “living room” seating when the residents are entertaining guests.

At just 50 square meters, this attractive apartment makes up for its limited floor plan with space-enhancing features like tall ceilings, massive windows, and a wide open layout.

Rather than shying away from strong colour in such a small space, a strong blue theme runs through.

While the kitchen uses white-on-white design to maintain a low profile, the dining area stands out with cozier appeal thanks to its warmer color palette. The sense of contrast helps separate each functional area.

When a designer and an architect decide to buy an apartment together and to make it their home, you never know what’s going to happen there. For example, take a look at this space. It’s a 50 square meter apartment so it’s rather small but it’s definitely interesting and unusual. It belongs to designer Jaroslav Kaspar and architect Lucie Faturikova. Together they transformed the space and made it unrecognizable.

Initially, the bedroom was supposed to be a separate room but it ended up being just a large cabinet which also hides the sleeping area. On the side there are shelves which can also be used as steps. The only separate room is the bathroom which has sliding glass doors.{found on houzz and images by Martin Hulala}.

The closed in balcony space has been cohesively styled and accessorised despite its narrow proportions. Here too, storage space has been cleverly created, this time beneath a built-in seat.

Although it’s extremely functional, the actual floor space of the kitchen is rather limited. In spaces like this without much decoration, unique kitchen pendant lights can make a huge difference – this design by Lindsey Adelman definitely makes a stunning statement.

A four setting dining table stands in the centre of a generously sized kitchen.

Full advantage has been taken of the vertical space in the kitchen, with three rows of wall cabinets.

This pendant lightshade is of a rebellious size for such a small home. The large pendant creates a central focal point for the room.

A wood bath panel, wooden countertop and unique laundry baskets in natural rattan warm up a white bathroom. Geometric grey tile brings it bang on trend.

A small table tucks away into the corner, to be used as either a vanity or a simple writing desk.

The kitchen is a crisp monochromatic arrangement with a black backsplash and countertop over ice white gloss units. Chrome accessories complete the look.

Next is a home that uses both material and layout to foster a sense of warmth and intimacy. The main living area and the combined kitchen/dining room is separated by a wall that contains a cozy faux fireplace, with the lower section remaining open to still allow a sense of connectedness between the two functional areas.

Sometimes it’s difficult to find unique coffee tables that work well with low sofas like this one, but this pairing looks fabulous.

A variety of lighting options sets the mood. A low dining room pendant provides soft illumination for meals, while a pair of creative rabbit lamps casts light into both the living and dining spaces.

Clad in marble, concrete, and plenty of pure white surfaces, it definitely has a high-end “clean” feeling vibe.

And because the bed stands are already occupied by useful items, these bedroom pendant lights are a great way to save space compared to ordinary table lamps.

Fitted wardrobes run the full width of the room and continue out into the reception, creating masses of storage space, which allows the small home to remain uncluttered and well organised.

Wainscoting and original parquet flooring bring a classic look to the decor, with a little hint of grandeur.

Not limited by its small proportions, the layout even includes a practical work area.

Our second small apartment is another from Lviv, Ukraine, this time having an area of only 30 square metres.

The living room itself is absolutely ideal for entertaining guests – a spacious sofa, a large format television, and plenty of room to spread out makes it easy to get comfortable and enjoy a movie or good conversation.

The IT_H_1 Apartment, located in Lviv, Ukraine has an area of just 47 square metres but still manages to have dining seating for a party of four in the open plan reception room. A comfortable modern sofa shares the same space as the dining area.

Behind the sofa a long planter full of indoor plants acts as a low level room divider.

The edge lit bedroom cube appears to float, making the large volume seem light.

Underneath the long planter behind the sofa, shelves of books sit upon castors. A full length mirror peeping out from the bedroom at the end of the makeshift hallway increases a sense of space.

Modern wall sconces light up the sleeping zone, whilst a slimline floor lamp lights a cozy seating area.

Living in a tiny amount of space can be limiting in many ways but living small certainly does not mean that you have to compromise on style. Not convinced? Well, take a look at these three small apartment interiors, all under 50 square metres, that are creative in using stylish furniture and decor to set a high-end scene. Large light fittings over sociably sized dining areas, practical kitchens that do not feel cramped, chic bathrooms and bedrooms brimming with storage are all present in these limited living quarters. Plentiful storage solutions keep these compact homes free from clutter overwhelm so that they appear spacious and the interior design can shine.

The wood flooring comes to an end at the home entryway and is replaced by high-shine tiling for a high-end look.

The kitchen proper uses warm wood cabinetry and textural tiles to express the comfort of rustic design without sacrificing an ounce of contemporary style.

A floor to ceiling mirror in the entryway tricks the eye into seeing increased space.

Rather than taking up valuable visual real estate with a traditional television, the designer opted for a projector paired with a retractable white screen. It’s still a great place to entertain despite the home’s small size – guests can simply pull up chairs from the dining room.

Sometimes luxury comes in small packages – while many may envision a “luxury home” as necessitating a sprawling floor plan, these stylish spaces take a more modest approach. Each of these three compact homes measure at less than 60 square meters but make a huge impression thanks to their streamlined decor, high quality furnishings, and thoughtful design. If you’re looking for ways to make your small or medium sized apartment feel more sophisticated, maybe one of these inspiring interior tours could spark some ideas. Which one of these fabulous homes is your favorite?

While the other homes in this roundup definitely made an effort to make each functional area feel like its own distinct space, this one features a more open-feeling layout where everything works together.

The Flos Mod 265 swing arm wall lamp adds drama to the lighting.

Shades of grey coupled with wainscoting create a super chic scheme. The bedside table lamps with bright red electrical cord provide the only injection of colour.

The apartment is very open. The living area and the kitchen have built-in furniture, exposed beams, brick walls and simple furniture. There are some holes in the wall which were discovered during the renovation and which the owners decided to keep and to use as wine storage. This open space also includes a work station and a cozy reading corner.

Decor remains simple. While there are a few statement pieces like the lamps, most of the color and creative personality comes from the simplest everyday objects like the fruit bowl on the table.

Home Design Under 60 Square Meters: 3 Examples That Incorporate Luxury In Small Spaces

Extra lighting built into the ceilings and walls provide a little extra mood lighting for relaxing evenings in bed.

Wall were demolished and the whole interior changed. When they discovered the old wooden floor and the brick walls, the two decided to keep them as such. They came up with all sorts of crazy and ingenious ideas for the décor. For example, the desk sits in planters and there’s a bed inside a cabinet.

Inside the compact bedroom, the space feels large thanks to the fully glazed wall and door.

Instead of decorations, the bedside tables simply host indoor house plants to add a touch of color and a splash of outdoor charm in the absence of windows.

Without much extraneous decoration, every accessory has the potential to make a big visual impact. The bowl, bottles, pans, and pitcher are all functional items yet their stylish designs add character to the space.
