Drawings, plans and elevations You should also submit  up to 5 relevant drawings in vector-based PDF format (site plan, floor plan, sections, elevations and/or any other relevant drawings or diagrams, such as concept sketches and images of models), with a file size no larger than 10 MB. The entries included projects from around the country and Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe. 

The Australian Interior Design Awards, a partnership between the Design Institute of Australia and Architecture Media’s Artichoke magazine, is a leading awards program that recognizes and celebrates interior design excellence in the categories of Retail Design, Hospitality Design, Workplace Design, Public Design, Installation Design, Residential Design and Residential Decoration.

Each submission and payment is confirmed by the issuing of a tax receipt, sent to your email address.  Retain a copy for taxation purposes.

If you have already registered or submitted into the 2018 program, you can log in from the home page using your email address and password.

There is 1 Optional Category, which is free when entering a Primary Category.  To be considered for this you must submit further information, which will be prompted in Step 3.   

The 2018 jury for the Awards for Australian Interior Design are: Dave Bickmore (Studio Gram, SA), Elizabeth Carpenter (FJMT Studio, NSW), Sonia Simpfendorfer (Nexus Designs, Vic), Hanna Richardson (Zwei, Vic), Mark Simpson (DesignOffice, Vic), Donna Wheatley (WMK, NSW), Tracey Wiles (Make, NSW), Kieran Wong (Cox Architecture, WA).

The first Primary Category entry is charged at $395, with subsequent Primary Category entries charged at $295 each.  The system will automatically charge subsequent entries (i.e. from the same applicant) at the reduced rate.

You will be prompted to respond to specific written criteria and upload supporting materials (images and floorplan) in your secure area. Remember that you can log in and out without losing submission materials.

Primary Categories attract entry fees but Additional Categories do not.  

Once you have completed steps two and three (above) you may pay and submit your project.  

If entering the same project in multiple Primary Categories (e.g. Residential Decoration and Residential Design) two entry fees will be payable.  

There are 5 Automatic Categories, which are free when entering a Primary Category.

To maintain anonymity during judging, no design practice names may appear on images, floor plans or written support materials; however, client names may be included.

2018 Australian Interior Design Awards: Premier Award for Australian Interior Design

You can set the order in which images will be displayed when you are uploading JPG files in the entry form.

Images You must submit 6 to 10 images (not visualizations) of your project in high-resolution format. Use the highest quality JPG setting available.  TIF images will not be accepted.

2018 Australian Interior Design Awards: Sustainability Advancement

Submit JPG images that are at least 3500 pixels wide, with a file size no larger than 20 MB. Images of at least 4500 pixels wide are preferred and will enable a higher quality print coverage. If your images are coming in above the 20MB size limit, try re-saving them in Photoshop and reducing the JPEG compression level to 8.

2018 Australian Interior Design Awards: Emerging Interior Design Practice

Requests to withdraw an entry will be accepted if made in writing ([email protected]) prior to the submission deadline of 16 February 2018, with a refund of the entry fee less an administration charge of $50. After this date projects cannot be withdrawn.

In all, 199 projects have been shortlisted across the seven primary categories.

Members of the Design Institute of Australia receive a 33% discount on entry fees.

Before beginning your entry submission, read the Entry Conditions. Submitting an entry means that you have read and agreed to all the Entry Conditions, including obtaining appropriate releases and authorities in writing from your client, photographer and, where applicable, the principal of the design practice.

Winners of these categories will be announced at a gala dinner event on Friday 25 May 2018 at the Hyatt Regency in Sydney, along with recipients of other awards including the Premier Award for Australian Interior Design, Sustainability Advancement Award, Best of State Awards for Commercial Design and Residential Design, the Emerging Interior Design Practice Award, Best International Design and the Award for Interior Design Impact.

There are 7 Primary Categories, which attract entry fees.  Look at the Primary Categories to select the most appropriate for your project.  Projects may be entered into more than one Primary Category (e.g. Residential Decoration and Residential Design) and each entry requires a separate submission.

2018 Australian Interior Design Awards: Interior Design Impact

The shortlist for the 15th annual Australian Interior Design Awards has been announced. In 2018, 623 entries by Australian designers were received, which is a 17 percent increase from 2017, with six categories receiving a record breaking number of entries.

The shortlist can also be viewed on the Australian Interior Design Awards website.

If you haven’t already registered or submitted an entry for this year’s program, you will need to register.  This creates your account so you can make online project submissions, which you manage and may edit up until submissions close.  You may also use this account to buy tickets to the Awards Announcement Dinner, when they are available for sale.  Once you have commenced your submission, you can log in and out at any time without losing submission data.
